La Route du Bonheur
In the mid-1950s, the famous "Blue Train" ran from the Gare de Lyon in Paris to the Côte d'Azur. A road was built parallel to the railway line and pearls of good French cuisine sprang up along this route. As owners of one of these establishments, the founders of Relais & Châteaux recognised an opportunity to join forces with other hosts with the same passion for fine hospitality and excellent cuisine. They offered an attractive culinary itinerary and invited guests to discover all the properties. Soon this itinerary was called "La Route du Bonheur" - the first idea of Relais & Châteaux was born and today the "Road of Happiness" leads around the world.
