Deputy Director & Rooms Division Manager

Paul Gründemann

My career at WEISSENHAUS

"After my academic hotel training with a focus on economics and my subsequent studies in International Hospitality, I have been part of the successful WEISSENHAUS Grand Village Resort & SPA by the sea since 2017. Short communication channels, excellent structures, clear lines and the love of every single person at this hideaway to be a passionate host convince me anew every day. WEISSENHAUS is not a hotel, it is a hideaway, a project that is constantly evolving, changing and always adapting to new circumstances. As a reservations employee, I had the opportunity to get to know WEISSENHAUS and immediately understood that it is all about the necessary sensitivity and the special to really make a difference and to be able to create unique guest experiences. My commitment, dedication as well as loyalty and determination enabled me, together with our management, which was and still is willing to develop and promote employees, to expand in the areas of responsibility and to take on new positions. Today, I am proud to serve as the Assistant Director & Rooms Division Manager of this unique resort. Developing our staff who are willing to advance their careers in the hospitality industry, demonstrating commitment and not only passing on but also exemplifying the hands-on mentality is as close to our hearts as satisfying our exclusive clientele. Believe me, I can say with conviction from my experience: WEISSENHAUS is a place like no other!

I am very much looking forward to meeting you personally in our resort soon.

A really great place to learn a lot!

"My training as a hotel management assistant at Weissenhaus has shaped me in every respect. Responsibility, flexibility, team spirit and cordiality are just a few of the qualities I was able to experience and learn here.

The hotel industry is a varied, fascinating and also promising path into the professional future of a young person who still wants to experience and see a lot. I fell in love with Weissenhaus right on my trial work day and it was an educational but also challenging relationship. Weissenhaus is always growing and developing and it is incredibly exciting to feel how much dedication and perfection we take care of our guests to make their stay unforgettable.

My highlights during my apprenticeship were, on the one hand, my one-month Erasmus internship in Malta: through good grades and diligent work, Weissenhaus gave me my first experience abroad. On the other hand, working at the front office and in the Courtier restaurant, where hospitality takes on a whole new meaning.

I am very proud and happy that I got the chance to learn and develop so many new things for my life and that's why Weissenhaus was my training like no other."

My Internship at WEISSENHAUS!

"I am currently in my first bachelor's year at the École Hotelière de Lausanne. The hotel industry has fascinated me since I was a child and I already knew back then that I would like to run my own hotel one day. The varied daily routine, looking after guests and working with different people on a daily basis are just some of the reasons why I chose a future in the hotel industry.

An important part of my studies are the two compulsory internships, one of which takes place in the preparatory year. I was able to complete this from 21 September 2020 to 2 November 2020 at the Relais & Chateaux Grand Village Resort & Spa Weissenhaus. During this time, I worked as a service employee in the breakfast restaurant Kavaliershaus and in the restaurant Bootshaus Mise-en-place, serving food and drinks and looking after guests. On the other hand, I was able to assist in housekeeping with the cleaning of the suites
On the other hand, I was able to assist in housekeeping with the cleaning of the suites, check the cleaned rooms and help in the in-house laundry. I was trained very well, quickly integrated into the various teams and given a lot of trust and responsibility. My superiors and co-workers always supported me with answers and advice.

I will especially remember the sparkling wine tasting organised for employees and the "Welcome Day", where we were shown around the Schlossgut and the philosophy of the resort was explained to us personally by Mrs Nagel.

Weissenhaus is a unique resort, which is why the work was very varied, interesting and challenging."

Operations Manager Housekeeping

Maira Böhling

My workplace like no other!

"My journey at Weissenhaus began with my training as a hotel manageress. My previous employer, where I was employed seasonally, knew Weissenhaus as a guest and encouraged me to do my training there. That was a recommendation for which I am still grateful. During my apprenticeship, I was able to take a look at every department, but it became clear relatively quickly that my future would lie in the department:  Housekeeping. I simply love leading a team in partnership and I love every corner of Weissenhaus and want it to always be well maintained and hygienically clean. [After successfully completing my training, I was given the opportunity to join the permanent staff as a deputy housekeeper, which paved the way to my current position as head housekeeper. Especially because we always have new plans in the pipeline and new buildings and units are constantly being created, which we equip and put into operation, it never gets monotonous because you always have a new challenge in your daily routine.

Why do I feel so comfortable here?

It's more than the actual work that makes Weissenhaus special, it's the team on the entire site that always supports each individual anew and accompanies them in their personal development. It is a privately run Relais & Châteaux and the directors have been with the house for many years, which makes a difference. It's the brief moments when you walk around the grounds, even on stressful days, and are virtually invited to take a breath by the tranquillity of nature. It is the personal service, the time we can take for each individual guest and the aspiration to provide each guest with truly special moments and an unforgettable stay. It is the spaciousness that does not lose its size despite full occupancy and that both our guests and we use to slow down. In addition, of course, we also have wonderful guests and quite extraordinary personalities as guests, whom one would otherwise never be allowed to meet in everyday life.

In conclusion, I can say that Weissenhaus is more than a hotel and that I have definitely taken the right step into my future here, in the upscale hotel industry, and will continue to do so."

Supervisor Reservations

Jessica Stein

More than just a workplace

"After successfully completing my Bachelor's degree in International Tourism Management in June 2018, I was looking for an internship for the summer. But already during the interview in the hall of mirrors of the castle, it was clear to me: I don't want to leave here! To my great luck, the originally planned summer internship developed directly into a one-year hotel management trainee programme, which WEISSENHAUS offered me. During my trainee period, I was given the opportunity to get to know all departments in detail and so I was deployed everywhere from housekeeping to service to marketing. It quickly became clear that my future would lie in sales and I was very grateful to be able to start a permanent position as an event & reservation coordinator directly after my trainee. In the meantime, I am responsible for individual sales as a reservation supervisor together with our sales management and in close cooperation with our management. I love being able to advise and look after our guests every day anew and thus lay the foundation for a successful and unforgettable stay.

WEISSENHAUS is so much more than just a workplace. From personal experience, I can say with certainty that the work here is challenging in every respect and equally fulfilling. Those who join our team and fulfil their tasks with dedication and diligence receive personal and individual support wherever possible. You learn something new every day, you are trusted and entrusted with responsibility. Every single team member gives their best every day to make our resort what it is today and will be tomorrow. We are all passionate about hosting - that alone makes our resort so special."
